Deltas use their influence to enact laws and policies to sustain and expand the rights and privileges of citizenship and to protect the vulnerable and unfortunate. Under the auspices of the National Social Action Commission, members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. accomplish this through:
- Active engagement in the legislative, executive, judicial and regulatory affairs of the nation
- Promoting enlightened citizenship by providing fact-based information to elected officials and voters
- Research and advocacy of critical issues
- Monitoring legislation at national, state, and local levels
- Voter registration, education and mobilization • Educating the public on public policy issues
- Encourage Deltas to run for elected office
The Decatur Alumnae Chapter’s sorors are committed to civic engagement and involvement in DeKalb County, GA. By building upon the National and Regional social action platform, Decatur Alumnae (DAC) has become a leading force and the “go to organization” in our collective effort to engage, educate and empower citizens. Community efforts have focused on gun violence prevention, human trafficking, domestic violence, voter registration and voter education. We also advocate around critical issues that may arise in the community.
